TrueWeb — Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of TrueWeb, the browser extension and related backend services ("TrueWeb", "the Service"). By installing or using TrueWeb, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What TrueWeb does

TrueWeb is a Chrome extension that uses AI (the Anthropic Claude API) to estimate the probability that a piece of text or an image was generated by an AI model. Results are probabilistic estimates — not facts, not legal determinations, and not always accurate.

⚠️ Important limitation: TrueWeb may produce false positives (flagging human content as AI) and false negatives (missing AI content). Do not use TrueWeb as the sole basis for decisions that have legal, professional, or significant personal consequences.

2. Plans and credits

TrueWeb operates on a credit system. Credits are consumed each time you analyze content.

Credit costs per analysis

1 text block (up to ~350 characters): 23 credits
1 image: 100 credits
1 document/PDF (base): 800 credits + 23 per section

Credit packs (one-time purchases)

You may also purchase credit packs at any time, on any plan. Packs are added instantly to your account and never expire.

Free plan trial

Free plan credits expire 7 days after your first use. After expiry, remaining credits are forfeited and the account enters a no-credit state. Upgrading to a paid plan restores your monthly credit allowance immediately.

Unused credits

Unused credits on paid plans do not roll over to the next billing period. Unused free credits expire as described above. Credit pack credits never expire.

3. Cancellation and refunds

  Summary: You can cancel at any time, on any plan, with no penalty. Paid plans are not refunded for the current billing period after the charge has been processed.

Free plan

No payment is required. You may stop using TrueWeb at any time by simply uninstalling the extension. No action is needed to "cancel" a free account.

Paid plans (Pro and Super Pro)

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by contacting us. Cancellation stops future charges immediately.
Effect of cancellation: Your plan remains active through the end of the current billing period. After that, your account reverts to a no-credit state (credits are not renewed).
Refunds: We do not offer prorated refunds for the unused portion of a billing period that has already been charged. If you cancel on day 5 of a 30-day cycle, you retain access until day 30 with no refund for days 6–30.
Exception — billing errors: If you were charged incorrectly (duplicate charge, wrong amount), contact us within 30 days and we will issue a full refund for the erroneous charge.
Chargebacks: Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in immediate account suspension.

How to cancel

Contact us through trueweb.site with your anonymous user ID (visible in the extension popup). We will confirm your cancellation within 2 business days.

4. Account termination by TrueWeb

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:

Use TrueWeb for automated bulk analysis at scale beyond normal personal use
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service
Engage in abuse, fraud, or violations of applicable law

If we terminate your paid account for policy violations, you are not entitled to a refund.

5. Acceptable use

You may use TrueWeb for personal, educational, journalistic, or professional research purposes. You may not:

Use TrueWeb to make legal determinations about authorship or copyright
Use TrueWeb results to harass, publicly accuse, or defame individuals
Automate requests to TrueWeb's backend beyond what the extension does
Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute TrueWeb's output

6. Disclaimer of warranties

TrueWeb is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that detection results will be accurate. AI detection is an evolving field with inherent limitations.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TrueWeb and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages based on reliance on detection results. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 30 days preceding the claim.

8. Intellectual property

TrueWeb and its design, code, and branding are owned by TrueWeb's operators. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the extension for personal use. You may not copy, modify, or distribute TrueWeb without permission.

9. Changes to the Service or pricing

We reserve the right to change plans, pricing, or features. For paid subscribers, price changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Argentina, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of TrueWeb after changes constitutes acceptance.
